Blue Oyster Mushroom Fruiting Blocks | 5lb Pleurotus Ostreatus Grow Kit
Jacksonville Grown | Small Batch | Instructions Included | Support Available | Florida-Focused Learning
Made to Order
Grow one of the fastest, most forgiving, and visually striking mushrooms right at home.
These 5lb Blue Oyster fruiting blocks are crafted from organic supplemented hardwood pellets and fully colonized with the infamously aggressive Pleurotus ostreatus mycelium. Known for their rapid growth and resilience, Blue Oysters are one of the best species for both beginners and experienced growers.
Just slice the bag, provide humidity, and watch clusters of deep blue-gray mushrooms burst to life within days. Warmer conditions tend more gray/brown. Cool temps push the deeep blue.
What Makes Blue Oysters Special
Blue Oysters are natural decomposers, thriving on wood-based materials and efficiently converting them into dense, flavorful mushrooms.
They are loved for:
• Fast colonization and fruiting
• High yields and multiple flushes
• Beautiful blue-to-silver coloration
• Mild, savory flavor with a meaty texture
⸻
Block Details:
• Weight: 5lb fruiting block
• Substrate: Organic supplemented hardwood pellets
• Species: Pleurotus ostreatus (Blue Oyster)
• Fully colonized and ready to fruit
⸻
How to Grow (Slice & Grow)
1. Cut a “X” or triangle slice in the bag
2. Place in a humid environment
3. Maintain airflow and indirect light
4. Mist surface to start pin formation if in very dry conditions. BUT DON’t SPRAY YOUR MUSHROOMS. Water droplets can be spot for bacteria.
That’s it — the mycelium handles the rest.
⸻
Fruiting Conditions:
Temperature: 55–70°F (13–21°C)
Humidity: 85–95% relative humidity
Light: Indirect or ambient light
Fresh Air Exchange: High — critical for proper cap formation
What to Expect:
Blue Oysters are aggressive fruiters, often producing visible pins in as little as 3–7 days after cutting. Multiple flushes per block.
⸻
Perfect For
• First-time mushroom growers
• Fast, reliable harvests
• Kitchen counter growing
• Teaching & education
• Gourmet cooking at home
